the beauty of wood with none
of the problems

- Easy
to build - that's
Ezedeck!
- EZEDECK can be
installed using tools
that you probably
already have. You'll
need a spade, hand saw,
mitre box, power drill,
screw driver, tape
measure, spirit level,
square, chalk line, and
hammer. If a large
number of angled cuts
are required, an
electric mitre saw will
make life easier. Full
instructions are
provided.
- 1. The construction of
the supporting
substructure comprising
galvanised steel posts
concreted into the
ground to which a
softwood perimeter frame
is bolted.
- 2. Positioning of
joists - these are fixed
to the perimeter frame
using either standard
joist hangers (available
from DIY stores and
builders merchants),
cross-nailed or through
nailed where the joists
are staggered.
- 3. Fixing of decking
boards using the
proprietary EZEDECK
fixing clips
- 4. Installation of the
posts - these slide over
the galvanised steel
posts and are finished
with end caps
- 5. Installation of the
balustrades (handrails,
balusters, inserts and
optionally the
decorative finials)
- 6. Fixing of finishing
boards (decking boards)
to hide the substructure
- A DIY enthusiast can
build a simple
single-tier deck over
two weekends. The
intervening week allows
the concrete to
"go-off",
though using a
quick-drying premix such
as Postcrete™
will shorten the time.
Professional design and
installation firms can
construct one of the
sophisticated designs
shown in the gallery
inside a week.
